Dr. Lin has been awarded a prestigious 2026 National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award to support innovative research aimed at decoding the epigenetic grammar governing chromatin organization. The NSF CAREER Award is one of the nation’s highest honors for early-career faculty, recognizing excellence in research, education, and leadership.

The project combines artificial intelligence and machine learning, physics-based simulations, and the study of epigenetic marks such as acetylation, methylation, and ubiquitylation to better understand how chromatin structure regulates genome function. Using integrated predictive models, Dr. Lin’s research will explore how chromatin architecture and phase separation contribute to higher-order gene regulation and genome compartmentalization.

The research has the potential to advance understanding of epigenetic dysregulation, support future therapeutic design strategies, and create generalizable computational tools for studying biomolecular assemblies. The project also includes an educational component focused on developing AI-driven visualization and computational modeling resources for students ranging from K–12 through graduate education.
